Like a rite of passage, maple trees wake up each spring and their sap starts flowing. As maple syrup producers, we also spring into action so that the sap flows from the tree to your table — with a few steps in between, of course. We take great care and pride in maintaining high standards, quickly converting the slightly sweet sap into delicious, premium syrup.

At our state-of-the-art, state-inspected and licensed facility, we use a wood-fired evaporator as part of our sustainable practices. Each year, Gordie harvests dead trees from our 525-acre tree farm that includes hardwoods, balsam Christmas trees, tamarack, pines, a bird and butterfly sanctuary, and more. This forest stewardship maximizes the sustainability goals we have in our master plan that guides everything we do at Maplecrest.

Retaining the inherent nutrient value of the sap obtained from the maple tree, pure maple syrup is like comfort food that’s also full of minerals and antioxidants. Native North Americans were the first to recognize pure maple syrup as a source of nutrients and energy, and modern research has shown that it has a higher nutritional value than other sweeteners. Our sugar bush is steeped in tradition. In fact, our proprietor Gordie remembers old family friends outfitting youngsters (himself included) with wooden yokes over their shoulders to collect the dripping sap from metal buckets.
